The ‘Tonight Show’s’ off the hook, but discrimination lawsuit still pending for NBC & Questlove

Ten months prior to NBCUniversal and Questlove, AKA Ahmir Thompson, being sued by two former camera operators for The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon for racial discrimination and wrongful termination, the court has dismissed the suit, Deadline reports.

The Roots founder’s rep released to a statement to Billboard in January on his behalf, denying the “ridiculous” allegations. “Racism is Real and exists throughout the world and for these gentlemen to claim victim is not only disrespectful to Questlove and his bandmates but to all that truly endure racism on a daily basis. As NBC already stated, the decisions made regarding these employees were made by NBC, alone.”

The New York Supreme Justice Carol Edmead ruled on Oct. 5 that the “Defendants’ motion to compel arbitration and dismiss the Amended Complaint,” would be granted. Although a settlement has not be made at this time, which raises major concerns considering the arbitration order doesn’t close the case for Questlove and NBC.

The claims of Plaintiffs Kurt Decker and Michael Cimino (jointly ‘Plaintiffs’) are still seeking more than $1 million as filed on January 24. As of now, the case will shy away from the public eye, which isn’t favorable for either party.
