Naomi Campbell calls Racial Diversity in Fashion a ‘Trend’
Naomi Campbell has never been one to bite her tongue when presented with controversial issues so you better believe at 49 years old she still holds the title of fashion’s HBIC.
This time around, the seasoned supermodel dauntlessly tackled racial diversity in the fashion business. While it’s apparent the industry has expanded in terms of race, gender, and size acceptance, they’re still several gaps to fill, in her opinion.
In a recent interview with Reuters, the British beauty details the evolution of the industry throughout her 33 years of modeling, and some of her comments disclose some hard truths that may make the higher-ups of high fashion uncomfortable.
When asked how the industry changed: “In so many ways, but most importantly the diversity, she said. It’s finally … sunken in but now we hope people don’t think it’s in for a trend, like clothes are in for a season and out for a season, that’s not going to happen.”
“It’s improved absolutely, I can’t say it hasn’t. I do think there’s always more room for improvement … There’s still some ways to go,” she added referring to equal pay.
“We’re on our way, we’re not there yet, but we’re getting the platform … they deserve to have, she continued.

Steph Curry gifts 30 people who shaped his career custom kicks ahead of game 3
After nearly 50 seasons at Oracle Arena in East Oakland, Steph Curry and the Warriors are headed to the Bay Area next season in their new Chase Center home inside the Mission Bay neighborhood of San Francisco.
As a farewell to his Oakland crew, Curry gifted 30 individuals who he says helped shape his career with custom black-and-yellow, Under Armour sneakers, including the team’s security. The kind gesture was paired with a note attached from the NBA star.
“It’s been my pleasure to represent the town the last 10 years. Through the ups and downs, the city always had my back. The energy was electric night after night. The passion was unmatched. The support was unending. For years, you literally had my back. No matter how big and wild this crowd got, I knew with you around, I was good. I will always be grateful for you and every other person in the Bay who put on for Dub Nation. The arena might be moving, but a huge part of my heart will always stay in Oakland. Steph Curry.”
“It seems like everything we’ve put out this year, like ‘The Town’ colorways, has been a part of my story or something about Oakland,” Curry told The Undefeated. “It has the city of Oakland’s name across it. I was hoping for something iconic that could capture a moment as we wind down our last days at Oracle.”
Curry and the Warriors will host Game 3 of the 2019 NBA Finals against the Toronto Raptors tomorrow night (June 5) at Oracle Arena. Curry reportedly plans to wear the “Thank You, Oakland” footwear for the remainder of the series.
