REVOLT and AT&T partner for the REVOLT Hip Hop Summit

Revolt and AT&T just announced the launch of the Revolt Hip Hop Summit, expanding the multi-city cultural event inspired by the former Revolt Music Conference to two new markets — Atlanta and Los Angeles — and re-imagining the event to include opportunities for young people to network and develop skills business owners desire.

AT&T will serve as co-creator and exclusive presenting sponsor of the event, expanding its reach and providing greater access for those seeking to become future leaders.

“Now more than ever we need to own our culture,” Revolt chairman Sean “Diddy” Combs said in a press release. “At the Revolt Hip Hop Summit we will empower young people with sessions on the issues they care about. From entrepreneurship and economic empowerment to social justice, we’ll have the provocative conversations not happening anywhere else. With the support of AT&T, we will provide perspective on music and media that could only come from industry veterans committed to our future.”

The event will take place from July 25-27 in Atlanta and Oct. 24-26 in Los Angeles. In addition to showcasing performances from major and emerging artists, the Summit will be  an immersive experience in the world of Hip Hop and culture, offering young people real-life networking experience and helping them to develop and hone the crucial skills business owners need to grow their companies.

“One of the hardest parts of breaking into any field is building a network and making connections with people that can help inspire dreams into reality,” said AT&T SVP-advertising and creative services Valerie Vargas in a press release. “AT&T is a longstanding champion of mentorship across both business and entertainment and we hope the opportunities stemming from the Revolt Hip Hop Summit help young people find their place.”

Headliners and ticket sales for the Atlanta and LA events will be announced soon.

Pinky Pinky debuts ‘All the Birds’ visual amid North American Tour

 LA-based music duo Pinky Pinky just dropped a new video from their debut album, Turkey Dinner. “All The Birds,” directed by Ryan Daniel Browne, is a whimsical and surrealist visual. The pair dips their hands into all sorts of hijinx including performing for a life-size bird, eating bite-size whole turkeys, and starring in a kawaii-style ramen commercial. 

Vocalist/drummer Anastasia Sanchez shares about making the video, “The video’s director, Ryan Browne, had the idea of making a video inspired by a series of bizarre Japanese food commercials that he had seen. The song is more or less about losing touch with reality and we very much thought that his video premise and the song married perfectly. We had a blast shooting it (part in our parents’ backyard), but in the LA summer, our friends just about got heat stroke while dressed in the mascot costumes.”

The video arrives in the midst of Pinky Pinky’s lengthy North American tour in support of The Growlers. They’re still set to play Chicago, Detroit, and Washington before heading off to Europe with BRONCHO in October. 

Produced by Hanni El Khatib and Jonny Bell, Turkey Dinner finds the band maturing sonically as the two, while maintaining the rambunctious energy that fuels their experiences as LA youths. The album includes previous releases “Loose Change,” “Mr. Sunday,” “My Friend Sean” and “Do Me Dirty (Charlie),” and follows last year’s Hot Tears EP.

Netflix releases first-look Teaser for ‘Rhythm + Flow’, Hip-Hop Competition Series

Netflix just dropped the teaser for Rhythm + Flow, a new, original series searching for and showcasing budding hip-hop talent – making the competition show the first of its kind.

Cardi B, Chance the Rapper, and T.I. have joined forces with high hopes of discovering hip-hop’s best, underground talent from Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles and New York City.

Rhythm + Flow is slated to debut Saturday, Oct. 9 with new episodes available every Wednesday.

Common faces Fatherhood in ‘Show Me That You Love’ video featuring Jill Scott
